F-16
The first F-16 was first flown on August 7 1978 and formaly turned over to the USAF 10 days later. The F-16's flight controls are operated by a fly-by-wire electrical system enabling the aircraft to respond to the pilots commands faster and more accurately.
The F-16 is extremly popular over seas in Europe as well with 33 major and 400 additional sub-contractors keeping the production lines supplied in Belgium and the Netherlands.
And by August 1990 more than 2,600 F-16's had been delivered out of 3,530.
The F-16 is a single-seat air combat and ground attack fighter and has either one 23,770lb Pratt & Whitney F100-PW-220 or one 28,984lb General Electric F110-GE-100 afterburning turbofan.
It can fly more than 1,320mph in level flight or Mach 2.0 at 40,000ft.
