X-15
The X-15 was part of the "X"(Experimental) series in the 50's starting with the X-1 flown faster than the spead of sound by pilot Chuck Yeager.
It was made to be air launched from underneath one of two modified B-52's and fly at speeds at over mach 6.
It had a long cylindrical fuselage and thick dorsal and ventral fins, upon landing the ventral fins were jettisoned to allow clearance for the retractable skids wich were the main landing gear.
It has one Reaction Motors XLR-99 rocket motor with a thrust rating of 57,000lbs at sea level and 70,000lbs at peak altitude.
It can fly at 4,159 mph with a maximum lift off weight of 34,000lbs.
